So, see what had happened was … OK no excuses. The last few months have been a “lifestyle” (aka diet) disaster. As a result, I am not happy with where I am and I have a grand total of ZERO energy. But, that changes … NOW.
My biggest issue (aside from literally eating every morsel of food placed in front of me, or dug from the depths of the fridge) is motivation. I, like many others, have repeatedly fallen trap to fitspo and making someone else my goal. Obviously, this works swimmingly well.
Cue brainstorming sessions that involved me pushing through a workout I did not really want to do (but acknowledge that I need to do) and envisioning … wait for it … shoes. Yes, shoes. I am a super superficial girl who loves shoes and clothes and handbags and spending money on frivolous things. As I envisioned a new, cute pair of ballet flats on my little toesies, I began to push a little harder and focus more on the workout’s positive effects rather than my shortness of breath and uber attractive sweatiness.
Then, I devised a plan and set some goals. Here’s the motivation and goal strategy I devised: I will pay myself to work out and then use those funds to purchase “goal” rewards. Yep, I am a genius. Move over Einstein, Girl In Nashville is taking over.
Here’s the plan in a nutshell:
Every day that I work out, I will pay myself $2 and every day that my meal plan is on target I add $3. Why more for the diet portion? Simply because that is where I struggle the most and it is also the most important part of getting healthy.
If my calculations are correct, and according to my mad Excel skills they are, at my halfway mark, I should have around $450 … which is just enough for a pair of True Religion Jeans and Tory Burch ballet flats. Then my final goal, I should have about $900 (assuming I don’t spend the first half – hahahahahaha).
Alright … let’s get our shoe … er, workout on!
