Ahh Pilates

21dayfixday11

Today marks the halfway point of my first round of 21 Day Fix and it was also an active recovery day, which means my sore muscles (mainly glutes and triceps) got a little rest and stretch. By rest, I mean they only had to lift their own weight rather than added weights.  I do not mean they (or I) got to chillax and do nothing.

The best part about the concept of active recovery is that you are still burning calories and challenging your body. Pilates Fix always reminds me that I really, really need to work on my flexibility. It makes me feel 90 to say this, but, goodness my hips are tight and sore! My goal is to work on that and get the flexibility back – that is what helped me push through today when I thought my joints and muscles were going to give out.

Pushing through is really where the benefit of this whole program comes into play. It’s not easy – it may look like it, but its not – and you are constantly pushing past the limits your mind has put on your body. You can do it and as Autumn says on Day 1, it doesn’t get easier, you get better one day and one pound at a time.
