As I am sure you have read … abs are made in the kitchen; you can’t out exercise a bad diets; and so on. All of your fitness goals and efforts will be somewhat in vain if you don’t change what you put in your mouth. (For the record, that sentence is more for me than for you; food is my weakness and delicious treats are my Achilles heel.)
So to continue my goal setting for the next year (it’s not a resolution), I am focusing on my health today. For me, this is mostly about what I put in my body.
- Cut out energy drinks – Jan. 2013
- Eliminate Fried Food – Jan. 2013
- Reduce Sugar – March 2013
- Stop biting nails (gross, I know) – Jan. 2013
- Get asthma and allergies under control – Feb. 2013
- Eat 75-85% clean – Feb. 2013
- Try more clean recipes
- Get outside more – Aug. 2013
- Stress less – Ongoing
While some of these may seem harsh or restrictive, for me, it’s an all or nothing kind of thing. If I eat one cookie, I tend to eat 50. If I order a fried meat for dinner, I’ll also get fries and macaroni. It’s a snowball effect and in order for me to be successful, I have to stay away from the stuff that I can’t control.
Will this work for everyone? Probably not. But that is why setting goals is so important – so you set goals for yourself that YOU CAN achieve. You have to put yourself first when it comes to your health because no one else will.
